An Easter afternoon, full of food, family and friends!

This afternoon my mother and I hosted an easter party for our family friends. Rita and Kenneth, their daughter and my good friend Katrina (check her out her blogging magic at http://www.heylittlebirdie.com/), her husband Jason and their adorable little children Estelle and Levi. 

Decor:

I was able to use simple things to create easy decor that made a big impact. I started with a large white table cloth and a colorful striped one as well. Then topped the table with glass vases filled with Robbins Egg candies, colored peeps and flowers for center pieces. Finishing touches included miscellaneous Easter and spring nicknacks such as bunny and duck trinkets. 

Festive Food:

For food we had the typical Honey Ham with rolls, salad, deviled eggs, a potato casserole, a dessert salad (oranges, coconut, bananas and marshmallows YUM!) pear cake (so wonderful, you have no idea) and some appetizer finger foods. For a festive touch, I made birds nests out of peanut butter and pretzel sticks, froze them to create a bond and added candy Robin Eggs and paired them with PEEPS!

Easter Goodies:

Estelle and Levi are some great kids so they deserved some great stuff! Check out their goodies!

Egg Head:

So easter decor was not enough for this girl, I wanted to add some holiday flair to my hair! I created a 'birds nest' bun and then glued Robins Eggs to bobbie pins and positioned them in and around the nest. How to Plan a Murder Mystery Party

A night full of Mayhem, Mystery and of course Murder!

You're Invited:

The Details:

I have always wanted to host a Murder Mystery Party, and last week I finally got the chance! In the future, I hope I will be able to create my own murder, characters and plot, but for my first attempt I wanted to use a preset story. So I utilized this site: http://host-party.com/Home/Default where you can "purchase" a murder, tailor it to your guests and party and finally print out all the clues and information. I choose The Railburn Murder, a classic 1930's Who Done It! Overall the site and the game was really helpful and I highly recommend it!

The Decor:

For decor ideas I turned to my loyal friend: Goodwill. There I purchased an original classic Clue board game as well as the more recent version. I used the board games and pieces as table settings and food identification cards. Also I taped off the front with "Crime Scene Do Not Cross" tape and made a body outline using blue painters tape.

The Dinning&Drinks:

I tried to tailor the food choices to Clue board game components. I served Professor Plum's Killer Hot Rolls, Mr. Green's Guilty Garden Salad, Colonel Mustards Assailant Appetizers (Bruscheta and Crunchy Bread Tarts with ham and mustard or turkey and cranberry sauce) and Mrs. Peacocks Mystery Meet Lasagna. Miss Scarlets's Blood Red Punch for drinks and Mrs. Whites To Die For Desserts: White Chocolate Swirl Brownies, Oreao Bars and Lemon Bars.

The Dress:

The Murder was set in the 1930's so everyone came true to their character and true to the era.

Meet the Victim: Lawrence Railburn Sr. The aggressive owner and operator of the Western Pacific Railroad. His overbearing, authoritarian style tends to alienate or attract all whom he encounters. With Lawrence, you either love him or hate him, or more often than not, love to hate him.

Meet the Accused:

Alaina as Maria LaWenta the Chambermiad and Ashley as Ivanna Bucks the Railsburn Accountant

Sheree as Lolita the Lady of the Night and Alex as Phillip Duright the Hotel Manager.

Kevin as Jake Daniels the Bartender, and Kenny as Johnny Fabulous the Hotel Musician

The Railburns: kristin as Slyvia Railburn the Barons Wife and My Brother Trent as Josh Railburn: the son of the deceased who ended up being both homosexual and the killer

Karlee: Amber Rose the Secretary with a Secret  and Me: Chastity Reynolds the Slutty Socialite 

The Games:

We played 3 rounds were clues were read (some confidential, some not) and we each tried to solve the murder, in the end, Trent (Josh) was the killer!

How to plan a Dr. Seuss Party!

Dr. Seuss has made an impact on the literary world of children as well as adults, so what better way to celebrate his fun words and unique stories then a Dr. Seuss inspired dinner party.

The Details& Decor:

The Party details and decor were quite easy to do, all it took was a book or two. I put Swedish fish on the table but by the end there were few, I guess my guests liked to punch on fish red and blue. I also made my home colorful and bright, so take a look, like it you might....

The Dinning&Drinks:

When determining what I should cook, I simply looked to a Dr. Seuss book. From the Grinch we had Who Hash (potato casserole) and Roast Beast (roast beef). Then we had Green Eggs (deviled eggs with food coloring) and Ham (ham rolled in green tortillas and ham turnovers with spinach dipping sauce), Oh what a feast! For dessert I made cup cake's resembling Thing 1 and Thing 2, with red velvet cake and blue frosting it was easy to do!

The Dress:

Have each of your guests come as a different Dr. Seuss character, I made sure they RSVPed as their character so there were no duplicated.

Who's Who:

My friends each picked characters from books to portray they all looked great when they came that way. Dene was 1 Fish 2 Fish, Red fish Blue and my friend Saira came dressed as a Who...

Kenny and Kevin wore no shoes only socks, and brought books about feet and a fox

Sam I am was there too played by Kristin with cheer, and Thing 2 (Alaina) and Thing 1 (Ashley) also did appear.

Who was I do you ask? Why the Cat in the Hat. Tell me, Tell me, what do you think about that!?

The Games:

I had just purchased Just Dance for Wii so we danced the night away, we got quite sweaty.
